Holder of a doctoral degree in the Information and Knowledge Society from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (2008).
Holder of a bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Ramon Llull University (1999).
Certified sound and image engineer (1993).
Professor at the UOC's Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences. His present teaching activity in bachelor’s and master's degree programmes focuses on the fields of audiovisual creation (production, editing, direction and project development), storytelling, interactive audiovisual production and transmedia.
His main research lines are related with media practices, digital storytelling, contemporary fiction, transmedia strategies, crowdsourcing, fan creativity and storytelling for environmental sustainability. He is a member of the interdisciplinary Mediaccions research group, where he has taken part in several research projects on new audiovisual media, collective creation, digital storytelling, collaborative fiction in schools, escape rooms, personal narratives on social media and fictional profiles on Twitter. He is currently co-leader of the digital storytelling project D-STORIES.
He has published in reference journals such as Convergence, International Journal of Communication, International Journal of Cultural Studies, El Profesional de la información, L’Atalante, Icono 14, Palabra Clave or Anàlisi. He has also published with international publishers such as Berghahn, Peter Lang, Springer or Palgrave/Macmillan. He has been a co-editor and co-author of books since 2005. His most recent publications include Crowdfunding the future (2015), Handbook of Social Practices and Digital Everyday Worlds (2016) and El despertar de las máquinas: 50 películas clave sobre tecnología (2017) (The machines awaken: 50 key films about technology).
