Holder of a doctoral degree (2000) and a master's degree in Geography, both from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). He currently teaches courses for the bachelor's degree and postgraduate diploma in Tourism at the UOC's Faculty of Economics and Business. As director of the UOC's Bachelor's Degree in Tourism, his academic work has been recognized with different teaching accreditations and research premiums.

His research interests focus on the processes and dynamics of developing "sun, sea and sand" tourist destinations, the social and cultural impacts of tourism events, and the introduction and use of new technologies in smart tourist destinations. He is also interested in e-learning applied to tourism and has undertaken a number of teaching innovation projects in this field (working with augmented reality, geographical information systems, wikis, etc.) in courses for UOC bachelor's degree and postgraduate programmes.

He is currently a member of the UOC's New Perspectives in Tourism and Leisure (NOUTUR) research group. He has taken part in a number of R&D projects on tourism and has published articles, books and book chapters in different national and international journals and specialized publishers. He has also written a substantial body of course material for bachelor's degree and postgraduate courses in tourism.
